Charanga del Norte Live Performance in London 24th November

On Saturday 24 November 2018 Charanga del Norte will be performing at 3.45pm at the end of the Latin American Music Seminar day at Senate House, London, room G22. Book your place via Eventbrite. Live and Unplugged the band start their 20th anniversary events after a day of presentations on aspects of Latin American and Caribbean music.The band will be performing US-based Cuban dance music so expect plenty of pachanga and Latin Soul! Refreshments provided.

Charanga del Norte launch their new EP Charanga Time to showcase their new New York-styled charanga set.

Expect pachanga, bugalu, and New York infused Afro-Cuban dance music styles by the likes of Charlie and Eddie Palmieri, Johnny Pacheco, Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaria, Orquesta Broadway and Pete Rodríguez.

With a string section and guest bugalu brass this gig features high energy improvisations and clave-driven grooves: as New York DJ Al Angeloro says: ‘If you can’t dance with them . . you died last week’ (WBAI Radio/The Montuno Sessions).

Leeds Arts Research Centre

The Leeds Arts Research Centre (LARC) brings together creative practitioners and academics across Leeds Beckett University whose research interests lie in the arts, whether that is music, film, fine art, design or performing arts.

LARC draws on staff from the School of Art, Architecture and Design and from the School of Film, Music and Performing Arts. It brings together cultural historians and theorists with arts practitioners at the cutting edge of practice as research. Providing a forum for debate, it is also a window on the exciting and innovate creative work going on across the two Schools.
