Charanga Soleil are thrilled to invite you to SOB’s After-Work Salsa Groove on Friday, June 1, 2012.
For this all-Salsa show, the band will cook up an irresistible stew of Caribbean and South American classics. Be prepared for a night of musical bliss and non-stop dancing with two full sets of sultry, scintillating selections of salsa caliente y picante!
Performing will be: Cathy Lopez and Goussy Celestin (lead vocals); Hadar Noiberg (flute, vocals, musical director); Lewis Kahn (violin, trombone); Junior Rivera (tres, vocals); William Ash (bass); Sergio Rivera (piano); John Berdeguer (percussion, vocals) and Diego Lopez (drums, timbales).
As an extra-special treat, the band will be joined by the exceptional flutist SUE MILLER bandleader of Charanga del Norte out of Leeds, England!
So get your June started on the right foot (or the left). Pa’ que gozen!!! Enjoy!!!
Free Cuban Music concert by students from the School of Music at The Clothworkers Centenary Hall,the University of Leeds 6pm (refreshments from 5.30pm). A Cuban Music Big Band plus a charanga line-up and son band directed by Sue Miller perform the dance styles son, son montuno, descarga (jam session) , pachanga, danzon and chachacha.

This is my homage to Melquiades Fundora who died on 14 February 2009
I have played alongside him with La Sublime in Havana in 2006 and 2007 and this performance at the Cabaret Nacional in Havana on April 6th 2009 was a tribute to him as one of the founders of Orquesta Sublime in 1955.
